Face-to-face Classes

 

Spring 2024 studio courses in Polegate Community Centre

11 weekly, fun relaxed art classes - discussions, lots of demos and project working with group and individual feedback throughout. Like-minded groups offer very supportive and friendly encouragement. Range of refreshments provided for a nominal sum. Courses can often be joined after the start, just email me to check.

Payment is 4-weekly in advance, with any extra added to the last payment, with students committing financially to the whole course when booking. If possible, Roz can offer an opportunity to attend another session if one is missed. 

Polegate Community Centre is a large hall with a range of 4 spaces which serves the local Polegate community near Eastbourne in East Sussex. It has very good facilities including a car park and is very near Polegate station and good bus routes

The Lounge is a large room with several radiators, lots of windows so fantastic light, different table sizes and a kitchen area in the corners, and a door to the car park for access when appropriate, weather-wise.

Great facilities, large, light, warm room, and free car parking outside. Small groups, enjoyable, creative sessions with lots of demos, refreshments provided.

 

Gel Print, Collage, Mixed Media – Loose, semi-abstract mixed media 

Monday 8th Jan - 18th March, 10.15am-1.15pm - 3hr sessions with break

We’ll be exploring Gel plate printing with its many exciting and collaborative techniques, including using very simple card Collagraphs with the Gel plate, as well as stencils, stamps, masks and photo transfers.

These will be combined with collage and loose, water-based paint approaches, some interesting surfaces, and a range of creative tools.

We’ll look at the art practice of Robyn McClendon, Elizabeth St Hilaire, Suzanne McNeill, Joan Bess, and Marta Dyer-Smith.

 

Personal Projects – any media, any style

Tuesday 9th Jan – 19th March, 2pm–5pm - 3hr sessions with break

Work on your own projects on any subject, within a small, supportive, and friendly group, providing an exciting opportunity to experience other subject matters and media.

Roz will provide comprehensive guidance on the choice and approach of your project / developing and progressing it / finishing, mounting, and framing, and advice on making cards, prints and selling your work. She will also introduce artists whose work is relevant to the approach or use of media you want to explore.

N.B. Due to time restraints in a small group of this type, you need to have some experience with your chosen media.
