Exploring Colour Key with paint and pastel…..

THURSDAYS  2.15pm – 5.15pm • 3 hours

January 12th – March 30th • 12 weeks

£21 per session, please see payment notes on the course home page.

This course explores various landscape scenes in paint and pastel, using Colour Key as a theme - the method of deliberately using a limited range of tones in a painting to communicate a mood.

We’ll be using different wet media as underpainting techniques for the pastel, such as acrylic inks, exciting watercolour variations, and demonstrations of alcohol inks and solvent with pastels.

We’ll be working with both soft pastels and later oil pastels, varying the amount of pastel application on different images, looking at expressive and fun mark making and including some mixed media techniques like scratching, Gesso texture and granulation medium in the underpainting.

We’ll look at the work of various artists including Monet, Kurt Jackson, John Threlfall, Lucy Willis, Sheila Goodman (pictured) and others…..
